Supporting future digital talent through data analytics work experience

Lee Wakemans is pleased to welcome Ritchie Gardiner, who is undertaking work experience with the business focused on data analytics and technical systems.

Ritchie is spending time with our IT and technical team to gain practical insight into how data, digital tools and internal systems support the day-to-day operation of a professional consultancy. His placement provides an opportunity to explore data analytics in a real business environment, while developing a better understanding of how technology is helping to shape the future of the construction and property sectors.

Ritchie is being supported by Wajiya Jawaid, one of Lee Wakemans’ IT team members, who is helping to guide him through his work experience and introduce him to relevant data processes, system workflows and analytical tasks.

This placement is also a valuable opportunity for Wajiya to further develop her own mentoring and training experience. As a former Cardiff University student, Wajiya understands the importance of practical exposure, guidance and confidence-building when students and early-career individuals are exploring potential career pathways.

At Lee Wakemans, we are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for students at different stages of their education and career journey. Over recent years, the business has welcomed students from high school level through to undergraduate and postgraduate level, providing exposure to professional working environments, live business challenges and the growing role of digital systems within consultancy.

While Lee Wakemans is traditionally recognised for Project Management, Quantity Surveying and wider construction consultancy services, the business also recognises the increasing importance of data analytics, technology and digital innovation across the industry.

Through placements such as Ritchie’s, Lee Wakemans aims to encourage not only the next generation of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, but also future data analysts, systems specialists and digital professionals.

Wajiya Jawaid of Lee Wakemans said:

“It is a pleasure to support Ritchie during his work experience and help introduce him to some of the ways data and digital systems are used within the business. Having previously studied at Cardiff University myself, I know how valuable practical experience can be when developing confidence and understanding future career opportunities.”

Lee Wakemans is proud to continue supporting students, graduates and early-careers initiatives, helping to educate, inspire and create opportunities for the next generation.
