Lee Wakemans was pleased to support a recent Family Learning Programme held at Neath College, delivered in partnership with Techniquest and Grŵp Colegau NPTC Group of Colleges.
The event welcomed pupils and parents from Waunceirch Primary School, who travelled to Neath College by bus to take part in a hands-on session exploring Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths in a relaxed, engaging and supportive environment.
Charlotte Evans, Business Development Executive at Lee Wakemans, was invited by Andrea, Head of Education at Techniquest, to bring Lee Wakemans’ interactive Quantity Surveying and Project Management careers stand to the event, following the success of a previous early years careers activity.
The session formed part of a Neath Port Talbot College-funded project aimed at raising the profile of the college and supporting family learning. It brought together children, parents and carers to explore future careers and STEM-related activities in a way that was accessible, practical and enjoyable.
Techniquest provides interactive learning experiences across science, technology, engineering and mathematics, supporting learners from primary level through to higher education. Grŵp Colegau NPTC Group of Colleges is one of the largest further education providers in Wales, supporting learners across a wide geographical area.
Lee Wakemans’ stand introduced families to the roles of Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors, helping explain how construction professionals support the planning, costing and delivery of buildings and infrastructure. The aim was to make careers in the built environment more visible, accessible and relatable to young people and their families.
The event was also supported by Adam and Hayley from the Cardio-Respiratory Department at Swansea Bay University Health Board, helping to showcase healthcare career pathways alongside construction and wider STEM opportunities.

Early careers engagement is not just about speaking to young people; it is also about helping families understand the opportunities available and showing that careers in construction, healthcare and STEM are real, achievable options.”
