Lee Wakemans is pleased to welcome Addy Moraes, a postgraduate master’s student from Cardiff University, who is undertaking an internship with the business focused on data and technical systems.
Addy reached out following Lee Wakemans’ engagement with the Cardiff University Student Futures team, applying for an opportunity to gain practical experience in data, systems and technology within a professional consultancy environment.
Following an initial interview with Charlotte Evans, Business Development Executive, and technical discussions with Tony Sang, one of Lee Wakemans’ IT team members, Addy was offered a placement. He is now undertaking his internship under Tony’s supervision, supporting work connected to internal systems, data processes and technical development.
At Lee Wakemans, we are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for students at different stages of their education and career journey. Over recent years, the business has welcomed students from high school level through to undergraduate and postgraduate master’s level, providing them with real exposure to professional working environments and live business challenges.
This internship is particularly meaningful as Tony Sang himself joined Lee Wakemans after completing his master’s degree at Cardiff University, having followed a similar pathway. Seeing someone who has previously benefited from this type of opportunity now supporting and mentoring the next generation is a strong example of the long-term value these placements can create.
Lee Wakemans’ commitment to education and early careers also extends beyond university placements. The business has supported primary school-level engagement through initiatives such as Techniquest careers events and STEM-related sessions with partners including Neath College. These activities are designed to introduce young people, parents and carers to future career pathways in an accessible and engaging way.
While Lee Wakemans is traditionally known for Project Management, Quantity Surveying and construction consultancy, the business also recognises the increasing importance of data, technology and digital systems in shaping the future of the industry.
Through placements such as Addy’s, Lee Wakemans aims to encourage not only the next generation of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, but also future data analysts, systems specialists and digital professionals.
Charlotte Evans of Lee Wakemans said:
“We are thrilled to offer students meaningful opportunities to gain experience within the business. Addy showed real enthusiasm for data and technical systems, and it is fantastic to see him working with Tony, who came through a similar route himself. These placements are not just about work experience; they are about confidence, learning and helping students see where their skills can take them.”
Tony Sang of Lee Wakemans said:
“Having joined Lee Wakemans after completing my own master’s degree at Cardiff University, it is great to now support another student coming through a similar pathway. Addy has shown a genuine interest in systems and data, and I look forward to helping him develop his skills during the placement.”
Lee Wakemans is proud to continue supporting students, graduates and early careers initiatives, helping to educate, inspire and create opportunities for the next generation.
