The project commenced in January 2022 and was completed in March 2023.

Lee Wakemans provided Project Management, Cost Management, Principal Designer and Certifier services to Alliance Medical for an overflow imaging facility, including 20 more parking spaces at South Tyneside Hospital.

The specialist 1,300m2 £10M facility includes world-class MRI and CT scanning equipment, along with a PET-CT scanner. This will greatly reduce travel for a number of residents in South Tyneside and Sunderland who currently travel to Newcastle or Middlesbrough if they have suspected cancer.

Lee Wakemans’ activities included the demolition works, asbestos removal, design surveys and works, the planning application, contractor tendering, construction and completion.
