Practical Completion Achieved for Integrated Diagnostic Centre in South Tyneside

Europe's leading diagnostic and molecular imaging  services provider Alliance Medical, in partnership with South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust has recently announced practical completion of its new Integrated Diagnostic Centre at South Tyneside District Hospital.

Cardiff-based development consultants, Lee Wakemans, provided Project Management, Cost Management and Certifier Services, as well as acting as Principal Designer on the project.

The new facility is fully equipped with the latest technology, including world-class MRI, CT and PET-CT scanning equipment (provided by GE Healthcare Services) as well as clinical consultation rooms.

Jonathan Meek, Director at Lee Wakemans said, "This new diagnostic centre will have a positive impact on patients in the Northeast, allowing them access to state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities, which will help with earlier diagnosis, reduce wait times and allow treatment to begin sooner. This will be invaluable to patients and their families in the area.

This initiative with the South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is one of a number of diagnostic centres across the UK that is being built as part of a national roll-out programme lead by Alliance Medical."

Lee Wakemans' activities on this project include the design surveys and works, detailed design, planning application, contractor tendering, and construction and completion.
