National Lido of Wales, Pontypridd is a £6.3m refurbishment project delivered for Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council at the historic Ynysangharad War Memorial Park.

We provided cost management and CDM co-ordination services for the restoration and enhancement of one of the UK’s largest and most significant open-air lidos at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park. This high-profile £6.3m regeneration project helped bring a much-loved heritage leisure facility back into public use, carefully combining the character of the original historic lido with modern interventions to create a high-quality destination for the local community and wider region.

Originally opened in the 1920s, the lido had long been an important part of Pontypridd’s social and recreational life. Its refurbishment transformed the site into the National Lido of Wales, delivering a revitalised facility with three outdoor pools, improved visitor amenities and upgraded infrastructure, while retaining key historic features and the distinctive character that made the lido such a local landmark. The project has since re-established the site as a vibrant leisure destination and an important symbol of local heritage and community pride.
