Work has commenced on a new purpose built 6th Form Centre near Cwmbran town centre, which will become the home of all A Level education in Torfaen, as well as offering Welsh Baccalaureate and level 2 and 3 vocational qualifications.

Lee Wakemans is acting as cost managers on the project for Torfaen County Borough Council.

Huw Thomas, Executive Quantity Surveyor at Lee Wakemans said, "This is a great project, which will deliver a state-of-the-art education facility, equipped with the necessary resources to provide a fantastic learning environment. We are delighted to be working on this development with Torfaen, it's Design Team and the principal contractor Interserve."

The 6th Form Centre, to be run by Coleg Gwent will have space for 1,000 students and will include two atriums, performance and social spaces, classrooms with moveable walls and a safe, open roof garden.

The site is expected to open in September 2020 as part of the first phase of the Welsh Government's 21st Century Schools programme in Torfaen.
